Unless you have pristine posture already. With a balanced spine, your:
face will relax in ways it never has
speech will be clearer
body will stand taller
walking stride will be more fluid
imbalance-based muscle pain will dissipate
History
Frederick Matthias Alexander was an actor who had recurring vocal problems. In the 1890s he studied how his phonation was affected by his body alignment. He developed the practice now known as Alexander Technique (AT).
My Story
Amy, my vocal coach, told me that my body tended to contort which limited my ability to create clear sung vowels and suggested I visit an AT coach named Elizabeth.
Over the last year, I learned to balance my bones rather than force their positioning. You can too, it is worth it.
A Note
AT requires practice and adjusting to new-found proprioception. Going through it feels like going through a second puberty. As a harp player, it feels like stepping backwards since I have to re-map my finger positions constantly. But, I maintain a willingness to step backward if it means gaining a proper foundation - which is, essentially, stepping up.
