I wish you were a little less pretty.

I wish you were a little less pretty.

Seeing how you illustrate yourself…

Because now everyone treats you petty

but with at least one exception: myself.

I wish you could temporarily see

the world in the ways that I cannot.

And then you’d understand the depths

of where my wandering mind is caught.

Because if you could hold perspective

and stay pointed at true points of view…

you’d no longer be burdened by infected

fingers pointing judgement at you. So, I wish you were just a little less pretty.

With no makeup to make up perfection.

Just a big t-shirt and plenty paint brushes

to lose yourself in swirls of connection.
