I walk into a bookstore

May 3, 2026 1 min read

I walk into a book store; the pages start to eye me

the tales in these texts never fail to surprise me!

What will I learn from the writings of the past?

Magical inscriptions are how their spells were cast.

Tell me now, author, what you offer me to hear:

Sadness? Beauty? Comedy? A little bit o’ fear?

This safe space stands for creativity and learning

an artistic collaboration for constructive yearning.

Fly me through landscapes no one can really see

beyond the looking glass and into make believe.

Or over factions of facts stated line by line:

her story or history - rewind it in my mind…

I am lost in the pages thanking sages who remind

us of love that bubbles above these troubled times.

A tear works its way through the center of my head:

No matter how much I read,

there’s more I haven’t read.
